“She Is Ordinary” by Leah Cappelli

This shift comes with the seasons,

Quarterly,

Like clockwork.

The earth quakes and so do I.

And I wish I could forgive

Myself.

She said she noticed how forgiving

I seem to be of everyone else,

But stab myself in the back

Whenever the tide is high.

I told her I often forget I am human.

A silent sky cries for help

And I always answer.

Diving deep into the core,

Finding a lack of emptiness,

But never returning humbled.

I do not forgive.

I do not forget.

I wait out the tremor.

I learn to cope in ways,

But it does not end,

Though there is

An ebb and

Flow.

A blessing and a curse, she claims,

To feel so much, but always

Feeling

Not

Enough.

I observe my body go through the motions.

What heartbreaking inspiration to

Watch yourself live and

Surrender all

Control.
